The Best Stroller for Two Kids, Travel and All-Day Family Adventures: The Austlen Entourage
There are strollers that are great for a quick trip to grab one thing from the convenience store.
And then there are strollers you want when you're packing up the family for the entire day.
For us, the Austlen Entourage is definitely the second kind.
We bought ours for the outings where we're bringing two kids, the infant car seat, snacks, bags and everything else that seems to multiply the second you become a parent.
And honestly? We LOVE this stroller.
My toddler practically lives for getting on and off the Sit + Stand. Our Graco infant car seat fits nicely in the adapter. The stroller feels incredibly solid.
But the thing I noticed immediately was just how smoothly it moves.
You Could Sneak Up on an Elephant With This Thing
I'm not exaggerating when I say the Entourage is probably too smooth.
You know those little bumps and vibrations you get with some strollers that magically lull a baby to sleep?
They're practically nonexistent.
I've joked that I almost wish the Entourage were a little less smooth because those bumps used to help put the baby to sleep. 😂
You could sneak up on an elephant with this stroller. It's that smooth and quiet.
And while that's funny when I'm trying to encourage a nap, the Entourage actually smooths out the more important bumps - the ones that wake the baby up! And it's fantastic when we're actually out adventuring.
The large wheels and smooth handling make such a difference when we're covering more ground, whether that's an airport terminal, zoo, park, shopping center or just a really long family day out.
Why the Sit + Stand Works So Well for a Bigger Age Gap
The Sit + Stand is probably my toddler's favorite part.
He loves getting on.
He loves getting off.
Then getting back on.
Then off again.
And instead of me having to pick him up and put him in a traditional second stroller seat every time he changes his mind, he has the freedom to ride the way he wants.
He can stand on the Platform Rider when he wants to feel like a big kid, sit on the Jump Seat when his legs need a break, then hop off and walk again when he's ready.
Meanwhile, the baby can ride in an infant car seat using the appropriate adapter, or directly into the front seat, which is rated from birth and so comfortable!
That's why I think the Entourage is such a great candidate for the best stroller for kids with a bigger age gap.
When one child needs a stroller all the time and the other only needs one sometimes, two traditional stroller seats aren't necessarily the ideal answer.
The Best Single to Double to Sit and Stand Stroller for Real Life
That's also where the Entourage feels different from a traditional double stroller.
It doesn't force us into one configuration.
The stroller can be used as a single. It can become a traditional double with the Second Seat. Or it can use the Sit + Stand with its seated Jump Seat and integrated Platform Rider.
And the frame itself expands and retracts depending on how much room we need.
Austlen rates the Primary Seat from birth to 65 pounds, the Second Seat from 6 months to 40 pounds, and the Sit + Stand from 2.5 years to 75 pounds. The stroller has an overall capacity of up to 200 pounds of kids + cargo!
That's what I want from the best single to double to Sit and Stand stroller: not just a list of configurations, but configurations that actually solve different problems as kids move through different stages.
For Longer Adventures, Capacity Matters
This is something I've come to appreciate more the longer we're out.
Two kids are only part of what the stroller has to carry.
There's the diaper bag.
Water bottles.
Snacks.
Extra clothes.
Jackets.
Whatever we've purchased along the way.
And if we're traveling, add carry-ons and other travel gear to the list (even the checked bag!).
The Entourage's lower storage basket is rated for 70 pounds, and the included Market Tote adds another 30 pounds of capacity. Altogether, Austlen rates the stroller for up to 200 pounds of kids + cargo.
That's one of the reasons I think of the Entourage as more than our best double stroller.
It's our family adventure stroller.
How Popular Two-Kid Strollers Compare
When I look at strollers for longer outings, I care about more than whether two kids technically fit.
I want to know how they'll ride, how much the stroller can actually carry, and how much stroller I'm dealing with in the car.
Here's a quick look at several popular options. Because manufacturers don't all publish dimensions and total capacities in exactly the same way, I've avoided filling gaps with estimates.

Is the Entourage the Best Stroller for Every Quick Errand?
Maybe not.
And I actually think that's worth saying.
If I'm making a super-fast trip somewhere and only need a tiny stroller, sometimes I use my umbrella, which I keep around for just those occasions.
The Entourage takes up its fair share of room in our Expedition, although less space compared to other double strollers since all the seating folds with it. With my third row down, there's plenty of room, but this isn't a tiny travel stroller pretending to be something it's not.
What it gives me in exchange is what I care about on the outings where I really need a stroller: room, capacity, versatility and an incredibly smooth ride.
For our family, that tradeoff is completely worth it.
Getting It Into the Expedition Is Easier Than I Expected
This was another pleasant surprise.
The Entourage isn't ultralight, but it's pretty comparable to other full-sized double strollers, and much lighter than most wagons. Plus, I've learned that stroller weight doesn't necessarily tell you how difficult a stroller will be to load into a vehicle.
I can stand the folded Entourage behind my Expedition, lift it slightly to account for the extra cargo-floor height, and just roll it in.
It's so much easier than what this stroller replaced.
Austlen actually designed the folded Entourage to roll into a vehicle specifically to reduce the amount of lifting required.
That's one of those features that sounds minor until you're loading and unloading a stroller multiple times in one day.
Why We Bought the Travel Bag
We also bought Austlen's Travel Bag, and this is one feature that gives me serious peace of mind when we're flying.
Austlen's Travel Worry-Free Guarantee covers damage to the Entourage stroller and its Second Seat or Sit + Stand caused during air travel when the Travel Bag is properly used and registered before departure, provided the stroller is still within its original three-year warranty.
That's important because checking an expensive stroller with an airline can be nerve-racking.
Knowing our stroller has that extra protection makes me much more comfortable traveling with it.
That's a meaningful feature when I'm deciding what deserves to be called the best travel stroller.
Features That Make the Entourage Stand Out for Us
Here's why the Entourage has become our best double stroller, best single to double to Sit and Stand stroller, best travel stroller, and best stroller for kids with a bigger age gap:
- Traditional double + Sit + Stand options, so we're not locked into two traditional stroller seats
- A real sitting AND standing option for an older child, with the Sit + Stand rated up to 75 pounds
- Infant car seat compatibility, including an adapter that works well with our Graco seat
- 200-lb total kids + cargo capacity, including a 70-lb lower basket and 30-lb included Market Tote
- Expandable and retractable frame, giving us more space when the outing requires it, and the footprint of a single when we don't need the extra space
- Incredibly smooth, quiet handling, which makes longer outings genuinely enjoyable
- Roll-in vehicle loading, reducing how much of the stroller I have to lift into our SUV
- Travel Bag Worry-Free Guarantee, providing additional protection against qualifying airline damage when the requirements are followed
- Solid, premium construction that feels ready for years of family adventures
The Stroller We Reach for When We're Going Somewhere
I don't think every stroller has to do every job.
Sometimes we're running in somewhere for ten minutes, and our little umbrella stroller is enough.
But when we're actually going somewhere?
When we're traveling?
When we're spending the whole day out?
When I know my toddler will walk for a while, ride for a while, sit for a while and repeat that cycle approximately 47 times?
That's when I want the Entourage.
It carries our baby, gives our toddler the independence he loves, hauls an incredible amount of our stuff, works with our infant car seat, rolls into the back of our Expedition, and pushes so smoothly that apparently my only complaint is that it doesn't jiggle the baby to sleep, although she stays asleep longer.
I'll take that complaint.
For our family, that's what makes the Austlen Entourage the best double stroller, the best single to double to Sit and Stand stroller, the best travel stroller, and especially the best stroller for kids with a bigger age gap.
We're ready for wherever we take it next.
